Some people think that private companies and individuals instead of governments should pay to clean up the pollution that they have produced. To what extent do you agree or disagree? 20191026
As we all know, cleaning up environmental pollution in most cases costs a fortune, and accordingly who ought to be responsible for paying this is under heated discussion over the public.
Primarily, some people hold the standpoint that companies and individuals who contaminate theenvironment have an obligation to cover the fee of pollution treatment. It is unquestionable that everyone and every organization should be answerable for their actions and behavior. Therefore, they must pay for the damage on eco-system that they give rise to. What is more, in some countries, they will be fined several times more than this to ensure that they will never commit the same mistake again, and even some persons in charge will be sentenced for a certain period of prison time.
Additionally, this situation is not as simple as we expected. Some certain types of pollution (such as white pollution and air pollution) are able to exist for hundreds of years, exerting negative impacts on our environment constantly. In other words, what those guilty companies and individuals pay is far from enough to heal the situation. Under this circumstance, government funds seem to be the only way we can rely on. Governments not only should invest directly to treat pollutants, but also are supposed to shoulder more responsibilities to financially support related research and actively diffuse environmentally-friendly products by some economic leverage. Hence, in the pursuit of cleaner environment, government investment is of great necessity.
In conclusion, who pollutes the environment should pay for their wrongdoing. In the meantime, the governmental duty in this field should never be ignored.
